She also has ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which makes it difficult to cope with day-to-day life. Alexis befriended others with mental health problems and did her best to help them. She ended up in a few abusive relationships but finally found love when she met Scott, a schizophrenic; he tragically died in a car crash soon after they got together.

I stumbled towards the door but it was too late; Seb reached it first. He stretched his arms out to fill the frame, blocking my path.
‘Please,’ I begged, ‘I have to go, my Dad’s going to kill me if I’m late.’
I tried to slide past him but was pushed back, over the wooden arm rest and into the chair. He climbed on top and pinned me down.
‘Listen to me. You are beautiful,’ he said, his face inches from mine, ‘why can’t you believe in yourself? Why are you doing this?’
I struggled and squirmed beneath him, unable to think of a response. In a final attempt to free myself I pushed against him, causing us to roll off the sofa and land hard on the wooden floorboards.
‘He’s outside, I have to go,’ I pleaded, hearing the distant rattle of my phone vibrating across the table. I was used to my boyfriend’s erratic outbursts but this was starting to scare me. Seb seemed to realise that I was upset and let go; the pause was long enough for me to get out of the room. I grabbed my bag and made it to the front door but at the last minute was pulled back as Seb grabbed my arm. He pressed me against the wall.
‘Don’t go,’ he whispered in my ear, his body so close I could barely breathe. His hands slid down my side, resting on my hips as he kissed me. ‘I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,’ I said, pushing him away and lowering my head to avoid his gaze. My ruffled hair fell over my eyes as I peeled away Seb’s fingertips and gently pushed him away. He finally took a step back, allowing me just enough space to slide past him and out of the front door.
