Description

Darkness & Light: a book of bipolar poetry explores living with bipolar disorder through a poetry medium. The poems not only detail the thoughts and feelings the disorder evokes at times, but also the effects it can have on other areas of life; such as relationships, and individual self esteem. The book mostly explores the depressive side of bipolar disorder, with the occasional ray of light and hope shining through the darkness encountered so often by those who have the disorder.

All profits from the sales of the book will be used to further expand the Australian Bipolar Schizoaffective Network (ABSSN), an Australian mental health support organisation.

The Road Between Us

The road between us, lover
Is many heartbeats long
I left you for another
Was my decision wrong?

Colour all my days black
My heart, my soul, too,
Because I want you back
Though it will destroy you

And I can still feel your touch
Upon my burning skin
And I can still feel your lust
Consume me from within

Your fingertips traced my spine
A single kiss so deep
One look would have made you mine
A tear slid down your cheek

For we can never be
You know this much is true
Even though you love me
Even though I love you

I looked into your eyes
And saw your heart break
One final soft goodbye
One final twist of fate

And someone else will love you
The way I would not
And someone else will now do
All that I could not

And she will break your chains
I know that you won't mind
And you will smile again
Then rid the scars that bind

Days will turn to years apart
Yet I'll still think of you
I know deep within my heart
You'll still think of me too

But for now I set you free
And turn to someone else
A loveless symphony
So I can free myself
