I am not a fan of Christmas. In fact, Christmas for me has represented in the past an almost stifling apprehension; Ďan immovable fearí, to purposefully misquote Hemmingway. Not able to work out whether this is a symptom of SAD or simply the thought-stifling omnipresence of an enforced and misguided seasonal culture, I have, up until now, always endured the festivities with consternation and clenched fists (kept appropriately hidden under the Christmas dinner table). But not today. Today I am bucking the trend...

Turkey, Tinsel and Torment is a collection of diary entries chronicling the hardships of winter for those living with mental ill health. Both moving and funny, this wry collection of first person observations offers both insight and hope as we continue to battle the stigma of mental illness.

Born in 1986, Aron Bennett from Norwich has lived with mental illness for a number of years. A Law graduate from Lancaster University, Aron is a keen philosopher and social critic. Aron's belief in 'writing as therapy' (both for individuals as well as for wider society) goes to the core of his commitment to producing thought-provoking works, including semi-autographical essays, diaries and more. Aron is a tireless seeker of truth and spends the majority of his time challenging stigma and harmful forms of 'conventional wisdom'.
